December: Generosity

You don’t have to have a lot of money to be generous

— in fact, you can be generous with no money at all!

We’re spending this month thinking of what we can

GIVE instead of what we can GET. It’s the Big Idea of

generosity.

Hello MLGS Family,

It is time to begin another school year! Last year we began our process of redesigning our school with our MLGS school Why: "Empowering our students to be brave, curious, kind, and excited for their future." I would say that continues to apply this year. : )

Obviously we will be starting a little different than years past, but our focus on relationships will not change. We love our students and are excited to see them all back in person. For those of you feeling nervous, anxious, angry, fearful, you are not alone. Our staff is going through those same emotions as we prepare to begin school. Will the plan we design be perfect? Definitely not, as things continue to change quickly and we must "pivot". However, I can assure you that it is being developed with care and compassion for the needs of ALL students and ALL staff!

We will have some changes to the educational part of our day this year as well. At the beginning of the year, much more focus will be placed on the online components of our instruction. The reason for this is two-fold. One, we want our students to become more independent. Two, we want to be ready in the event that we would have students out due to sickness. This focus will begin day one and continue throughout the year!

Communication will be more important than ever with all that is going on. This website will be the hub for all of our important information, so bookmark it and check it first if you have questions. If you cannot find the information you need, please give me a call (620) 886-5608 or email me at rcunningham@usd254.org. We are all in this together!

With all of that being said, I am extremely excited to get this year going. Thanks to all of you for your support over the last six months. We truly are in this together, and I am so thankful to live in this community.

Looking forward to a great year!

Mr. Cunningham
